Creating Abundance

Helpful Suggestions to Feel Wealthy in Times that Appear Bereft

Abundance means living in plenty, regardless of what your checkbook tells you, because money is not your Source. When we honor our Source, we find channels in unexpected places. Discover prosperity through giving.

Your head may tell you not to share because there's only so much to go around, or to guard ideas lest someone else steal them. The journey from head to heart, however, fills you with an overwhelming sense of appreciation and love and the understanding that abundance is available for everyone.

Some of the ways you can create abundance is by consciously keeping your thoughts high-minded and embracing all whom you love.

Repeat the following words in that semi-conscious dream state just before falling asleep:

(1) I close my eyes and let my belief in miracles emerge and fill me with a beautiful light. In my mind's eye I hold an image of the people for whom I desire to pray. I send out the beautiful light of the miraculous to these people and imagine it completely surrounding them. I affirm that this light is healing, repairing, and bringing wholeness to all of these people. As I see and feel the power of the miraculous touch my friends and loved ones, my faith in miracles grows. I give thanks for all the miracles that happen everyday all over the world. I affirm these thoughts and images with a feeling of great joy and let them go.

(2) I close my eyes and imagine myself filled with limitless good. I affirm that my beliefs are creating a wonderful life for me now. With each new breath my thoughts become more and more positive. I imagine my thoughts filling my words with the power of transformation. I know that my beliefs, thoughts, and words are the source of my deeds. In my mind's eye I see and hear myself thinking and using positive words as I communicate with others today. I imagine that I easily match my positive words with positive deeds. At the end of my day I give thanks for the knowledge and opportunity to create the reality of my choice. I combine these thoughts and images with a feeling of joy and let them go.

Create your own verbal mantra by putting positive thoughts that create an atmosphere of “plenty” for yourself and everyone around you.

Life seems to be filling up with more to do and cope with each passing day. In our modern life, leisure time now seems but a distant dream; something unattainable. The Ancients called this “Kali-Yuga”, which loosely translates into “Too many things for the time allowed.” We simply load ourselves up with more than we can handle. The brain produces stress hormones in response to a steady dose of anxiety, which added to the accumulation of physical and emotional toxins , impacts not only our enjoyment of life, but also the proper functioning of all body systems. We get sick in our souls, minds and hearts, as well as depleting our immune system, which reflects in stress overload in the entire organism and leads to disease.

Essential oils can be invaluable before physical illness manifests itself.  Some simple ideas for rejuvenation, protection and prevention are:

Relaxing florals: These sweet aromas act directly on the central nervous system as we inhale them and they are a quick remedy to take the edge off the day. Clinical tests have shown that inhalation of genuine lavender oil triggers the brain to release serotonin, which promotes relaxation during the day and restful sleep at night. Ylang Ylang has been used clinically to lower high blood pressure, and Neroli is an excellent calming oil. Rose is superb for difficult emotions such as anger, resentment and jealousy, and combined with Jasmine can produce a gentle tonic effect for both sexes. Also included in the relaxing oils are: Chamomile (both German and Roman), Clary Sage, Rosalina and Geranium.

Oils that have a direct beneficial effect on immunity and support adrenal function are the leaf and needle oils. These oils also help circulation and digestion, and the movement of ‘Chi’. Morphologically, the tree oils represent strength and are figuratively used in mythology depicting inner strength and resolve. The Tree Oils are: Pine, Spruce, Cypress, Tea Tree, Rosemary, Peppermint, Bay Laurel and Eucalyptus.

The root, heartwood and resin oils can revive you; choose them when you are really feeling tapped. The restorative oils are: Angelica, Sandalwood, Frankincense, Myrrh, Patchouli, Vetiver, Lovage, Cedarwood, and Spikenard.

Bright Citrus oils: they bring sunshine and light! Stress can be more debilitating in the Winter, especially here in the Pacific Northwest where gloomy days can go on forever. Dr. Berkowsky includes some of the Citrus oils in the “gold” remedies and they are impeccable for elevating mood and outlook. They literally bring light to the darkness. Especially good for those suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder.

The Bright Citrus Oils are: Grapefruit, Orange (both Sweet and Bitter), Lemon, Lime, Tangerine, Mandarin, Clementine, and Bergamot.

Barbara Lucks calls the Spice Oils the Warrior Oils, and this is so true. If your immune system is depleted to the point of frequent colds, flu and infection, then this heavy artillery is exactly what you need. Hot spice oils are ready to take on germs at the same time they boost your immune system.

The warrior oils: Oregano, Thyme, Cinnamon, Clove

Remember that a drop or two is all you need. Resist the urge to use too much. More is NOT better and may cause skin irritation, headache, nausea and dizziness. Never take essential oils internally unless prescribed by a medical professional proficient in the use of essential oils. For inhalation, you can sniff from the bottle, drop a few drops on the shower floor, or in the bath with a dispersant (milk works very nicely and adding bath salts will put you in heaven). Add a few drops to massage oil or lotion. Tuck a tissue with a drop in your shirt pocket. There are good books to consult to learn more about essential oils. One of our favorites for beginners at Samara Botane is Valerie Cooksley’s, “Aromatherapy: A Lifetime Guide to Healing with Essential Oils”. When you realize that holism is paramount for any improved functioning, mental or physical, you will concentrate on improving diet, relaxation, getting complete rest and having productive relationships, personal and professional. The investment you make can improve the quality of your life for the rest of your life.

Aromatherapists Provide Help for
New York Rescue Workers

Samara Botane is proud to be a part of an ongoing program that provides massage, aromatherapy and stress relief to rescue and construction workers continuing the arduous tasks in the rubble of the World Trade Center. We have provided over $1,000 in products to be used by practitioners organized by CERMT a member of the 14 team North Carolina Critical Incident Stress Management Advisory Council (NCCISMAC). Sunday, September 30th at 5:00 am the first of the teams was deployed to NY. The teams will be rotated in and out of NY as needed. Critical Incident Stress Management teams deal with de-briefings, de-fussings, and interventation. Says Doug Rasmussen, who heads up the NY effort, “We are under the heading of mental health. . We do 10-15 minute chair massage. To become a member of CERMT we have to go through a CISM and Emergency Massage Response training and have a Massage License and insurance.”

WHAT’S NEW AT SAMARA BOTANE

We’ve been busy adding new items this Fall—just in time for your holiday shopping.

You will want to come in and see the exquisite aromatherapy products from Awakening Chi. This thoughtful line of lotions, bar soaps, bath salts, votive candles and gift sets are created by the Feng Shui practitioners at The Art of Placement and are the perfect gift. Awakening Chi blends are based on Five Element Theory and have been developed to evoke the distinctive energy of each element: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal. Moderately priced and beautifully packaged, you won’t want to miss these delightful treats.

If you haven’t seen the Windrose nebulizing diffusers, they are our absolute best find. These lovely diffusers allow convenient use and storage of your essential oils in a bottle to which the nebulizer attaches rather than the usual nebulizer that you fill.

Especially for the holiday season, we have True Bayberry Candles made primarily from the wax of the berries of the bayberry shrub and treasured Christmas candles since colonial times. Burned to the nub on Christmas Eve, they bring good luck for the coming year! Picked each autumn, the tiny berries are placed into a pot of boiling water; the wax coating floats to the top, then skimmed, and ready for making these lovely candles of yesteryear. True Bayberry Candles have a soothing aroma (No bayberry essence added - This is the real stuff!), and bring style and elegance to any occasion.

Rainforest Essendulums and exotic individually handcrafted Rainforest Pendulums now available.

Lovely and fresh handcrafted soaps made by Inger Genest with tried and true essential oil synergies and exotic new ones. Especially made for this season only.

It has been a common belief that through burning incense humans could commune with the Gods. Within the fragrant smoke from incense their prayers, wishes, and offerings are sent up into the heavens. We now have Baieido Incense, the superb Japanese aromatic experience.

New essential oils:
Two beautiful new Indian Holy Basils (Ocimum sanctum), one from the West and one from the South;
Himalayan cedarwood (Cedrus deodora); Exquisite Frankincense from the North of India (Boswellia serrata); Mastic from Portugal (Pistacia lentiscus); To die for Rose Rugosa otto; Saffron (Crocus sativa); very reasonable and rich; Sandalwood from Australia (Santalum spicatum); Vitex leaf (Vitex agnus castus) and a perfect Wintergreen from Nepal (Gaultheria fragrantissimia).

Come in for a free footbath on Saturdays all during December
1-4 PM.
