GINGERGRASS

Odor Characteristic: Interesting fatty-sweet, oily odor, slightly woody with a rosy backnote and slight cumin-like aspect. Often compared to Palmarosa, it is entirely different in character and odor. Arctander reports it is sometimes referred to as an 'ensilage' odor, and although it's main constituent is Geraniol, this is not perceptable until drydown.

Refractive Index: 1.47800 to 1.49300 @ 20.00 °C.
Specific Gravity: 0.90000 to 0.95300 @ 15.00 °C.
Appearance: dark yellow clear oily liquid
BioChemical Class: Alcohols
CAS No: 8023-92-5

Perfumery: Once very popular for Rose compounds, Gingergrass oil now seems to be disappearing from mainstream perfume compositions, but it is a lovely addition to the natural perfume palate and is an inexpensive oil to use in soaps and shampoos.
