Rosehip Seed CO2 is extracted from the seeds of the Dog Rose (Rosa canina) in the family Rosaceae, a deciduous shrub native to Europe, northwest Africa and western Asia. IT ranges in height from 3-15 ft, although it can grow into the crowns of tall trees. The leaves are pinnate with 5-7 leaflets. Pale pink flowers are 2-4 inches in diameter with five petals, and mature into a 1/2 to 1" red-orange fruit called a hip.

The rose hips are high in certain antioxidants, including vitamin C.

The oil from the seed is high in linoleic and α-linoleic acids.

A number of subspecies and hybrids have been identified.

Cosmetics:

  • antiwrinkle
  • recommendable in case if impure skin, neurodermitis, scaly and chapped skin
  • as a food additive, supplementing essential fatty acids.
According to Wikipedia, the common name 'dog' suggests that these roses are worthless (by comparison with cultivated garden roses). It's also known as the briar rose, dogberry, sweet briar, and briar hip among other names.
