About the Plant

Cabreuva oil is obtained from the Cabreuva tree (Myrocarpus frondosus or Myrocarpus fastigiatus of the Fabaceae Family, which grows in southern Brazil and termperate South America. This tree is sometimes known as Santos Mahogany and it is sold as a commercial timber. It is locally known in Paraguay as Incienso Rojo.

Cabreuva essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the sawdust of the Cabreuva tree.

Cabreuva Paraguay essential oil is not explicitly regulated by IFRA. It contains maximum 3% farnesol, 0.1% benzyl benzoate, 0.01% benzyl alcohol classified "R" (restricted) ; 0.01% linalool and 0.01% limonene classified "S" (specified).
