Odor Characteristic: Rhododendron essential oil has a sweet herbal, faintly balsamic odor. Burfield describes it as having "a floral heady and ylang-type top note that is honeyed and slightly spicy. The dry-down is floral, honeyed and resinous."

About the Plant

Rhododendron anthopogon is native to the alpine Himalayas from Himachal Pradesh to Bhutan, from 3,000 to 5,000 meters elevation (10,000-15,000 feet). It is known as Taalisri in Punjab, Taalish in Tibet, and Taalis-faz in Kashmir. Anthopogon oil is produced by steam distillation from the leaves.
